Industrial Applications & Information
Air Drying & Gas Purification
- Compressed Air Drying: The primary desiccant used in regenerative desiccant air dryers to achieve very low dew points (-40°C to -70°C), protecting pneumatic equipment from moisture and corrosion.
- Natural Gas Dehydration: Removes water vapor from natural gas streams to prevent hydrate formation and corrosion in pipelines.
- Industrial Gas Purification: Used to dry gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide.
Water Treatment & Other Applications
- Fluoride Removal: Highly effective adsorbent for removing excess fluoride from drinking water to meet safety standards.
- Arsenic and Lead Adsorption: Used in specialized water filtration systems to remove heavy metals.
- Catalyst Carrier: Its high surface area makes it an excellent carrier for catalysts in the petrochemical industry.
Handling & Storage
- Handling: While non-toxic, dust can cause respiratory irritation. Use in a well-ventilated area and wear appropriate dust masks and safety glasses.
- Storage: Store in a dry, cool place in its original sealed container to prevent pre-adsorption of atmospheric moisture, which will reduce its effectiveness.
FAQs
What is its main use?
Its primary use is as a desiccant to dry compressed air and other gases to very low dew points.
Can it be reused?
Yes, it is fully regenerable. It can be heated to drive off the adsorbed moisture, allowing it to be used for many drying cycles.
What size do I need?
The optimal size depends on your specific dryer and application. 2-5 mm is a common size for many industrial air dryers. Contact us for technical support.
