FAQs
Use in food?
Yes, it's a common food preservative (E223) used to prevent spoilage and browning in wine, fruits, and seafood.
How does it remove chlorine?
As a strong reducing agent, it chemically reacts with and neutralizes free and combined chlorine in water, converting it to harmless chloride ions.
Is it the same as sodium bisulfite?
They are chemically similar and used for similar purposes, but Sodium Metabisulfite is a more stable, concentrated source of bisulfite ions in its solid form.
